About Taylor Streit

Taylor Streit has been guiding fly fishers in Northern New Mexico for 25 years and is a "legendary guide" in the Freshwater Fishing Hall Fame. Taylor was wading the fabled waters of the Catskills before he was 10 and began guiding in his teens. Taylor has also been in the bonefishing buisness in the Bahamas and for the last decade has been taking anglers to Patagonia, Argentina.
Fishing fishing is a family affair with the Streits. Taylor's son Nick is a master casting instructor and guide, and is instrumental in all aspects of Taylor's work. Nick runs the guiding service out of the newly resurrected Taos Fly Shop. Taylor's brother Jackson is a well known fly shop owner, guide, and is the author of Fly Fishing Colorado.
Taylor is the author of two fly fishing books and his stories and photos have appeared in Fly Rod and Reel, Southwest Fly Fishing and Grays magazines. Taylor still lives near his favorite river, the wild Rio Grande, and gets down in the canyon as often as possible "to keep old age and town livin' from stiffening me up" he says.
