Every fly angler has heard of the famed Green River, but the rest of Utah yields extraordinary, uncrowded and little known fishing. Waters flow through alpine regions, desert, and canyons. Author Steve Schmidt, outfitter and owner of Western Rivers Fly Shop in Salt Lake City has explored these waters for over 29 years. He explains where to go and how to fish some of the most unique and diverse waters in the west: there's something for everybody, fly fishing mountain streams and lakes, tailwaters, bass waters and reservoirs. Lots of detailed maps show anglers how to get around and where to fish. Two color inside with charts, illustrations fishing terms and knots. Paperback, 80 pages, 25 maps, two-color inside pages, 8 1/2" x 11".

About Steve Schmidt

Steve Schmidt was drawn from Ohio to the famous powder snow of Utah when he decided to attend the University of Utah. While an undergraduate he spent summers exploring the great fly fishing waters of Utah and the West. Years of guiding, working in shops, tying flies, and fishing the state (more than 100 days a year) led to Steve's vocation. In 1986 he opened Western Rivers Flyfisher in Salt Lake City. The shop is now recognized as a premier source of fly fishing equipment, guiding, and information in Utah and the West.
Steve spends much of his time on conservation efforts to preserve and protect natural resources. He serves on the board of Swaner Preserve and is very active with the Henry's Fork Foundation. In 1996 he received the Friends of Trout Award for his work on the Provo River.
Steve has combined more than 25 years of knowledge with current information from other top fly fishers in the state into this guidebook. He explains how to explore and fly fish in the mountains, high desert, and great flatlands of Utah's varied terrain. Lots of detailed maps show you what took the experts years to discover. When not casting a fly for trout in Utah, Steve pursues his other passions of chasing after British Columbia steelhead and raising a family.
